The reconciliation is a process of comparing the data after it is transferred to the target system according to given rules.
Depending on the migration tool, according to the rules the tool can evaluate if the record has passed certain set of automated checks. The following table lists the responsibilities:
Task | Object Owner | Migration Team |
Develop reconciliation tool in Target Environment | X
Provide the reconciliation requirements | X
Define the reconciliation output structure | X
Adapt reconciliation tool according to defined output structure – Target Environment | X
Provide reconciliation report in defined structure from Legacy Environment | X
Reconcile based on defined reconciliation output | X |
We can also differentiate between technical and functional validation rules.
Technical Validation Rules
Technical validation rules will be driven by the target data model in Staging DB. During the transformation process the values are inserted to target fields.
The content is technically validated:
1. According to the data type of the target field
2. According to the definition of the transformation rule
Functional Validation Rules
Functional validations are business process driven validations checking also the dependencies to other migration objects and system configuration.
